I placed couple boxes of mothballs in my attic to keep away squirrels. Big mistake! Unfortunately, the mothball fumes entered my whole house and the smell was intolerable. After searching on the internet for a solution, I found SMELLEZE Mothball Deodorizer Pouches and decided to give it a shot because nothing else worked. The mothball deodorizers were delivered promptly and I placed a pouch on every return air vent to filter out the mothball odors as well as in each room. My Testimony: God said in his word that Trails and Tribulations will come to test us to make us stronger in having faith to trust and believe in his goodness and mercy. When this happened to me I wanted to know why, but God was with me the entire time through it all and so was a compassionate man named P.G. at IMTEK. First, I had carpenter ants in my bathroom window. I called a exterminating company to come out to get rid of them and they did. But they also informed me that I had termites in my crawl space. The day that the pest control man came to my home to treat the termites he saw an 8 foot black snake in my crawl space, and he ran out of my crawl space in fear, as I heard him yelling, Oh my God....I am not doing this. The pest control man told me that he would go to Lowes to buy a couple boxes of moth balls, and throw them through out the crawl space and that this would chase this snake out of the crawl space, so I agreed. Well let me tell you, it did chase the snake away and ME TOO!
August is a very hot month in Virginia and 2 boxes of moth balls were way to many moths balls in a small area like an enclosed crawl space. I did my home work on the Internet and moth balls are a crystallized liquid gas called Naphthalene which is very toxic to human health. Naphthalene consist of carcinogens. I learned that the inhaling Naphthalene vapors and exposure from moth balls could cause Cancer. I did not desire to sleep in my home for 7 days. One evening when I came home from work, the vapors from the moth ball odor was so strong in the air as soon as I had opened the front door to my house, I had to grab a few things that I needed and left. I was literally forced to leave my home because of the toxic moth ball fumes. Because I had the knowledge of what I was dealing with, I had the pest control man come back out to my house to remove ALL the moth balls from the crawl space.
After all the moth balls were removed the smell still remained in the ground because of the liquid gas residue. I wanted to find out what I could do to get rid of the odor as quickly as possible. Directions
For a breath of fresh air, simply remove the plastic cover, place Smelleze® pouches in the area to treated, on return air ducts or inside air ducts, and smell the difference. Use one or more pouches in a drawer, trunk or every 150 square feet. This deodorizer product will function most efficiently in air ducts with good air circulation. To obtain the best results, remove the mothballs, ventilate the area, and clean prior to treating with Smelleze®. For extra effectiveness, this product may be used in conjunction with Smelleze® General Purpose Deodorizer Granules.
Rejuvenating, Reusing & Recycling
The Smelleze® Mothball Deodorizer Pouch may be reused repeatedly after periodically rejuvenating them. Rejuvenate the pouches weekly until a noticeable decrease in odor is detected. Thereafter, rejuvenate them every 3-4 months or when smell levels increase. To rejuvenate, simply heat the pouches in a microwave 2-4 minutes or place in direct sunlight for a day and reuse.
The number of times Smelleze® can be rejuvenated and its actual life span will depend on the odor concentrations, temperature, humidity and velocity of air flow it is exposed to. Replace the pouches every 3-4 months or when rejuvenation eventually fails to work.

How to Rejuvenate Smelleze® Deodorizer Pouches
Smelleze® Deodorizer Pouches may be used repeatedly after periodically rejuvenating them. To rejuvenate, simply heat in a microwave 2-4 minutes or place in direct sunlight for a day and reuse. When you rejuvenate the pouches in a microwave, it is better to do it in 2 minutes intervals with 180° rotations and to check the pouch to make sure it does not get singed and allow the odor control media to spill out of the pouch. The pouch could get very hot after 4 minutes in a microwave so please wear oven mittens when removing them to prevent getting burned. Reuse the pouches after they have cooled.
Rejuvenate the Smelleze® Deodorizer Pouches weekly until a noticeable decrease in odor is detected. Thereafter, rejuvenate them when odor levels increase or every 3-4 months. There is no set limit to the number of times the Smelleze® Deodorizer Pouches can be rejuvenated and could work for years so they very cost effective. The actual number of times Smelleze® can be rejuvenated and its actual life span will depend on the odor concentrations, temperature, humidity and velocity of air flow it is exposed to. Replace the pouches every 3-4 months or when rejuvenation fails to work.
How to Rejuvenate Smelleze® Deodorizer Pouches for Maximum Effectiveness
For extra effectiveness, soak the Smelleze® Deodorizer Pouch in a 10% sodium chloride solution (5 oz. table salt/50 oz. water) for 20 hours with occasional agitation, rinse in water and air dry BEFORE heating in a microwave for 2-4 minutes or placing in the sun for a day. This is a little bit more work but will enhance the effectiveness of rejuvenated Smelleze® Deodorizer Pouches when reused. Sodium chloride is commonly known as table salt.
Rejuvenation Precaution
As a precaution, do not rejuvenate the Smelleze® Deodorizer Pouches in a microwave if they have been exposed to a hazardous substance like formaldehyde or anything you suspect is toxic. It is better to be safe and to rejuvenate the pouch outdoors in direct sunlight where is plenty of ventilation.
